I moved to CERN in 2003, working for the offline group of ALICE
Before joining ALICE, I was a member of NA49 (still member) and NA61 @ the SPS (CERN).
I became a Marie Curie fellow at CERN in 2005 and then a postdoctoral researcher at Nikhef and Utrecht University in 2007.
I became a staff scientist at Nikhef in Amsterdam in 2010
Together with my group at Nikhef we are members of the ALICE Collaboration at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN
I am now a physics professor at the University of Maastricht
I am the Bachelor Thesis Research (BTR) coordinator of the Maastricht Science Programme
I usually supervise BSc, MSc and PhD students
I'm a father of three, all born in Geneva (Switzerland):
- lias and Thania, both born on the 5th of February 2009 at the Clinique de Grangettes
- Korina, born on the 2nd of December 2010 at the Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève
My favorite sport is Formula 1, great fan of Max and Ferrari (if you knew me a bit you would not expect anything else but a choice that gives constant pain).
Besides this, I follow football being a supporter of AEK Athens (speaking about hard choices - if you know, you know).
I usually chill with music from bands like Radiohead, Placebo, Mogwai. I'm also quite into jazz.
I enjoy messing with the people I work with, "cornering them" with discussions about physics, politics, socioeconomic systems.
Favourite vacation spot? Greece (what else?)
